Load bearing wall structural system where the ( dead & live ) load of the slab is transferred directly and uniformly to the load bearing wall. These walls are constructed by load bearing brick, having compressive strength more than 150 kg/ cm². The bearing wall acts as a shear wall for the purpose of protection against earthquake if it is vertically reinforced. This system's wall serves two purpose - separation of areas as well as holding and resisting the load of the slab. This method of construction eliminates the concrete skeleton system which consists of columns, beams and girders. Also it saves a lot of material like concrete, reinforcement steel and formwork. The wall's cracks are eliminated completely due to the homogeneity of the wall material, uniform load distribution and continuous strip footing underneath the wall. This system saves 50% of the time required for casting the slab, due to the implementation of precast prestressed concrete ribs and red clay Hordi bricks. The advantages of using precast prestressed ribs and red clay hordi bricks will eliminate the formwork required for columns, slab, beam & girder casting and ultimately saves its cost. |
